Well I'm not a North German so I guess I'm not really in any position to
comment, but...is that the best they can come up with?  Another variant of
the Scandinavian Cross? It looks a bit like Norway's after some wag mixed
the printer cartridges around.



The horse is a powerful Saxon image from ancient times. Or dragons, gold
rings  ... or how about a sax? the single-edged sword/knife that  gave the
people their name?  The county of Essex (land of the East Saxons) has three
such swords on its arms. Admittedly they look more like Middle Eastern
scimitars than proper saxes but the idea is there.



As I say, not my land (though arguably that of my forbears, or some of 'em
at least); but if it was, I can't see that thing firing up my sense of
national identity.
