In Brabantish also: "nääsn" = "to eat", primarily said of birds who are
being fed by their parents...< aas: bait (E). The noun "nääs" also exists,
and could be used in a sentence like: "Ge koejnd aann nääs zölf züken" = "Go
find your food yourself" (said by parents who are "fed up" with their
children, wanting to teach them a lesson).

"Snasser" is a colloquial word for "mouth".

*Niff, *ä. Spr. Nibbe, gerundet Nüff f. Schnabel, Spitze, Mund, Nase; 'de
Nybbe edder Snabel gewassen ys'; Sonderdeutungen: Nibben : unkonfirmierte
Mädchen, die vor der Braut her um den Altar gehen (1837). - Mnd. nibbe. - *

*Gnasch* nur in der Zs. Ungnasch; *gnaschen* lautmalend vom Geräusch bes.
des Zerbeißens harter Gegenstände wie unreifen Obstes: hei gnascht so in dei
Appel; dat gnascht mi so twischen de Tähnen. Syn. gnatschen. - gnaschig:
knirschend, steinig vom Acker.

"knajnseln, tnajnseln" = to gnaw (B)..."knajtsebeet, ajtsebeet, etsebeet" =
gnawed off apple. When mussels contain sand, and this sand is scraping your
teeth, the verb is "schrajnseln" (B).

*gnagen,* Präs. gnaagt, gnöggt; Part. gegnagen (a. Spr.), gnaagt, -ää-
nagen; 'Ik weed ok dat yd gans oevel stadt De an enem bene ghegnagen hat';
'du schalt den Knochen nicht gnagen' (im Wundwurmsegen; Ro 1584); he gnöggt

übertr. auch up einen gnagen jem. tadeln, bemäkeln SchwPamp.
*Snœker *m. jem., der gern nascht, bildl. der verliebte Besuche macht;

"snökern, snökeln" = to eat candy
