Subject: LL-L Languages at the borderlines

In the South of Belgium we have 4 Romance regional languages (Walloon,
Picard, Gaumais-Lorrain, Champenois) of which the first two are adjacent to
the Northern Flemish, Brabantish and Limburgish language area's.



Picard became crasy popular in Northern France, as a result of the film
"Chez les Ch'tis". When you do a tour in local libraries you find books of
local chti food, local chti tours etc.


The word "chti" has more to do with the typical ch (sj in Dutch orthography)
sound than with a variety of meanings, cf.:

The West of the Ch'ti area coïncides with the former continental Saxon
coast.

I think Olivier Engelaere was subscriber of Lowlands-L in the beginning
