Dear Mark, all the best to you too! Thank God it didn't come out worse, as
it well might have done. -- Your description of your tender sitting reminds
me of what and old lady from Ostpreußen once said: "Da saß ich auf meinem
Stuhlchen und wog vor Angst nicht mal ein Pfundchen!" So shock and fear can
drastically reduce weight. I hope you still have a considerable mass!

Yes, it’s scary, but not an imminent threat. A fire popped up yesterday in
Leander (about 15-20 km from my house) that destroyed 4 or 5 houses.

I have seen the photos from California frequently of wildfires, but never
had them so close. Texas has wildfires often, but they’re mostly in West
Texas some 300 – 400 km away from Austin.

We just finished the hottest summer on record with 80 days of 38C or higher,
some 25 or so of those at 41C or higher. When we got a “cold front” that
brought temps down to about 33C, we thought it was great. However, the long
drought along with the single digit humidity made us ripe for wildfires.

Now that the temps have gone down, we’re lookin’ for rain.

Thanks for the well wishes.

Mark & Hanne: Really, we’ve got to do better than this! Werklik, ons moet
beter dan dit doen!

Hang in there, Mark and Mark!

Now we are having brush fire warnings even here in Western Washington.
That's exceedingly rare.
