Beste jullie allen,

Ook in Oostende - en in geheel West-vlaanderen - werden er proppeschieters
gemaakt uit vlier.

Bij ons is het hout:  vliender.
De proppeschieter:  e klakkebusse.
De bessen van de vlier zijn in Noord-West-Vlaanderen: vlienderbéjers.

En de kruisbes wordt bij ons  "stekebéjer" genoemd.

In het noorden van onze provincie is een bes: e béjer; (dichter bij het
Engels berry) in het zuiden: e bezie (dichter bij het A.N. bes).

In het Noordduitse Nedersaksisch is 'bes' *Bẹẹr* [beːɝ].~ [bɛːɝ].
