Subject: LL-L "Language origins"

Except for a direct analysis and comparison of languages, there may be
other approaches to investigate what early people had in common, as working
hypothesis for explaining variation in language.

A classical is archeology. So has the extension of common aspects of early
pottery been used for delimiting the area inhabited by early Celts on the
continent.

An interesting appraoch I think could also be the sharing of mythology. An
interesting special issue of the (popular) French Magazine "Religions et
Histoire" is focussed on "Préhistoire des Religions" (N° 45, Juillet-Août
2012, 82 pp.; pages 20-63 cover the topic).

Also DNA analysis is often used for detecting migration patterns. I
printscreened the positioning of myself in the "23andMe" mapping, together
with some additional diagrams (attached).
Some populations are relatively homogeniously concentrated. Others are very
distinct as:
- the Orkneys in the North European group
- the Basks and the Sardinians in the European group.
Since it may interest some members in the group, I also printscreened:
- the Middle East group: the jewish people are included in the Palistinean
group
- the Native American group.

Regards,
Roger
