I would like to send this again in the hope it comes through readable this

Hello List,
Does anyone know whether the Dutch spoken in the 18th century pronounced
the "s" in front of the consonants 'p' or 't' like "sh"?
German does this today -> spazieren, Spagetti, Stern, steigen, Steuer...

I am wondering about this, because Russian in some cases transformed the
initial "s" of Dutch loanwords into "sh":
stuurman-> штюрман (modern russian штyрман, shturman)
sloep-> шлюпка (shlyupka)
snoer ->шнур flex, cord (shnur)
vlaggestok -> флагшток (flagshtok, flagstaff)
straf - штраф (shtraf, fine/punishment)
etc. ( there is more examples, I will not cite all)

Or would it have been 17th century Russian that did this sound
transformation?

In the last example, there is also the fact that Dutch "g" which should be
"x" in Russian to represent the same phoneme, becomes a "g" in (like "g" in
English) флагшток.
