a'ya'tl

I am wondering about the etymology of a'ya'tl, a cotton or maguey cloak.  Also, Sahagun (Florentine Bk.1, Ch 19) notes that the array of Yacatecuhtli included a blue netted cape: "xiuhtlalpilli in jtilma."  Would that also have been considered an ayatl?  Thanks.  Joanna
