Jeff,
Just a quick comment: most of the people you've named
are not American linguists. They might not be coming to
LSA. Nick will most likely not have funds for the trip and
may not actually want to do it again, in any event.

It's a nuisance to have to list names so early... but I guess
we have to.

Can't we think of some local folks for these topics, except
perhaps the video one, since DoBes seems to be ahead of the
pack in that area? But video is also where we are guessing
UNM will be best able to step in, with all of the sign people.

Also, we can collapse formats & techniques. It doesn't take
long to say "cd-quality wav", after all. I think longer
sessions and fewer of them will be more useful, and also that
focussing on getting GOOD recordings - whether audio or video -
will be the most useful of all. So, microphones, lighting,
protection from the wind....

Finally, I really don't think we should have a slot for funding
or about recording for the future. It's all about recording for
the future. A slot for corpus management would make sense, which
I could do again or you or practically anyone in OLAC, at this
point. As for funding, there's really nothing more to be said.
People will know about the DEL program - it won't be new anymore.
I think we should stick to the real hands-on training sorts of
things, so unless we're going to talk about grant-writing, let's
leave funding out.

I'll hunt around for names next week...

Heidi
