        In 1973 the Leningrad branch of Detskaia literatura published
a 36-page edition of Doktor S'iuz, _Skazki pro slona Khortona_,
translated by Tat'iana Konstantinovna Makarova.  Her version of
"Horton Hatches the Egg" is called "Slon Khorton zhdet ptentsa,"
and "Horton Hears a Who" is called "Slon Khorton slyshit kogo-to."
In Makarova's translation Horton's credo reads:

        Po-moemu, mysl' moia ochen' prosta:
        slon veren ot khobota i do khvosta.
