Herzen and Khomiakov

Does anyone happen to know the original source of either of the following
quotes?

Herzen: "Europe goes through the strains of burdensome pregnancy, painful
childbirth, and exhaustive nursing--and we take the child."

Khomiakov: "Our spiritual malady flowed from the cleavage between
enlightened society and the people.  Its symptom was society's profound
loss of faith in itself and in the people from whom it had torn itself away."
