At the very beginnig  was the question:how it's possibile to say in Russian "to study abroad".
It's very simple - nobody  used the verb stazhirovat'sja - it ,really,will not be CORRECT in this context.
But CORRECT IS to say; poechat' na stazhirovku,
byt' stazherom  or  uc'it'sja za rubezhom ili za granitcej.
