Dear Robert,
According to Shifrin's "The First Guidebook to Prisons and Concentration
Camps of the SU," there was a camp in Dzhankoi (Crimea) at some time, but it
doesn't state when. Today there are factories there.
Here's a long shot: "Dzhangar" - a Kalmyk epic work re: a happy fairy-tale
land called "Bumba".
