Gogol and Spain

Dear colleagues,

my colleague from the Spanish program asked me to post the following query:

"Emilia Pardo Bazan, one of
the most important 19th century Spanish (female) writers, mentions
in one of her books Gogol's travel book to Spain (but doesn't provide
the title).  Was Gogol ever in Spain and did he write a book about it?"

I am fairly sure that Gogol did not travel to or write about Spain,
other than the brief mention in "Notes of a Madman," but I am curious to
 see if I am wrong.

Thank you for your help!
Polina
