I think the "тебя" here is the impersonal "you" or "one."  "Не лизал" in
this case means "не подлизывался," i.e. he would not flatter  (or "suck up
to," as the register suggests) those who won. Botvinnik says that Lilienthal
was the only one who would not gloat at the opponent's loss and "suck up" to
them in case they won.
