Dear all,
I am currently working with colleagues from sign language and spoken language assessment on an edited volume with paired-papers on specific topics related to language assessment. The volume is entitled “Handbook of Language Assessment across Modalities” and will be published by Oxford University Press with an anticipated book release in 2020.

We are still looking for a contributor or contributors for a chapter that focuses at discourse analysis between groups of sign language users (both Deaf and/or hearing) with different levels of sign language proficiency (but using the same SL). The main question here is what kind of strategies do SL users apply to negotiate meaning to enable communication with interlocutors who have higher/lower level of SL proficiency. The discussion should be ideally linked to hypothetical situations of SL assessment, for example, evaluating a conversation between learners at different signing levels.

The potential contributor (or contributors) does/do not need to be an expert in assessment, the main point is to present the issues mentioned in the previous paragraph (or similar, relevant ones) and how they could be linked to/addressed by assessment.

Would you be interested in joining for this interesting book project? Or do you know someone who has worked in this area?

Please contact me directly,

Tobias
