Remembering Reagan's assassination attempt

Though not an admirer of Reagan (though not his fault, terrible things
were done under his aegis by reactionary hacks in the Education dept. and
elsewhere -- that's what worries me about W.), my personal estimation of
him rose greatly when it was reported that while he was on the stretcher
outside G.W. hospital awaiting admission that he was cracking one-liners
with the emergency aid staff (some lines were even reported). It was
obvious that these weren't scripted for him, and he was using them to
reduce the stress of the attendants.
        Interesting that no one has mentioned the several assassination
attempts on Gerald Ford.
