Another "hit" ("Bomb Scare" & "Bomb Squad") is the NEW YORK HERALD TRIBUNE, 7 August 1940, pg. 14, col. 1:

_33rd St. Closed_
_By Bomb Scare_
_In Penn Station_
A bomb scare that caused the closing of Thirty-third Street to all traffic between Seventh and Eighth Avenues for five hours yesterday morning ended when a suspicious suitcase was opened...and was found to contain only clothes, carving knives and an alarm clock in a wooden cigar box.
Suspicion was deepened when a fluorescope examination by the Police Bomb Squad at 1 a.m. revealed the presence of pieces of iron and wire in the suitcase.

("Bomb scare" is in Peter Tamony's word list--ed.)
