Whoops. I erred a few minutes ago in saying that the 1922 newspaper article was written by Edgar Allan Woods. He merely held the copyright. The article is one of a series appearing under the title "Office Cat" and whose author is cited only with the pen-name "Junius." So from the article alone there's no evident way to tell who the author really was.
Maybe the Google granddaughter of the flapper is justified in claiming on behalf of her flapper grandmother.
