Trying to figure out a Japanese word (shibo nashi), I was lead to kaabon
rukku, which lead me to carbon look.

I couldn't discern the meaning from "carbon" in the OED online, and "carbon
look" isn't listed.

I found a page http://www.carbonimageltd.co.uk/ which gives a sample
description and picture:

"Carbon Image Ltd are a British Company, who discovered a process whereby
unique surface designs could be applied to leather, creating a range of
technical and high performance leathers.

"This radical approach to finishing resulted in tactile, breathable,
leather, with high abrasion resistance and has been proven in high
performance end uses.

"For over 4 years, these leathers have been marketed worldwide by Carbon
Image Ltd, under the trade name ViscarbR."

I doubt this is the only definition, but thought it should be noted.
