Assistant Professor of Arabic
World Languages and Literatures
College of Arts and Sciences
Western Michigan University invites applications for the position of
Assistant Professor of Arabic, an academic year, tenure-track position
within the Department of World Languages and Literatures, pending budgetary
approval.
Major Responsibilities:
* Teaching undergraduate and graduate-level courses in Standard
Arabic and Colloquial Arabic (taught in Arabic) and Middle Eastern culture
and literature (taught in English).
* Research in the field is expected and will be necessary for
advancement.
* Additional responsibilities include advising, curricular
development, participation in student activities and outreach, and service
on department, college, and university committees.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Ph.D. in Arabic Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, or a related field
* Native or near-native fluency in both Arabic and English
* College teaching experience expected
Desired Qualifications:
* Record of publications
* Successful experience in grant-writing
