Using %spe for written corpora

Hello,

I am using *TEX and %spe to transcribe a written corpus of children's 
narratives, but I am having trouble using the asterisk in the %spe line to 
signal extraneous punctuation. It occurs as an error since this notation is 
not specified in the depfile. It also seems that it does not work even if I 
try to add it to the depfile (possibly because the asterisk stands for any 
sequence or word). Additionally, children sometimes use a full stop in the 
middle of an utterance, which is also an error according to the CHAT 
guidelines. How can I account for these specificities of texts written by 
young children?
