Klahowya,
Lalia Boone wrote "Idaho Place Names", which was published in 1988 by
University of Idaho Press, Moscow, ID.
It's a fine dictionary with not only etymological but historical entries
for a great many of the items. For instance, many of the CJ placenames in
Idaho were given by the United States Forest Service ranger W.H. Daugs in
1929, and are duly noted thus.
It may be noted that certain other toponyms which could be said to have
been or become CJ are in Idaho not necessarily attributable to the Jargon.
Such are "Owyhee" and "Kanaka" when they occur in Idaho.
An amusing aside: "Kaniksu" is said to be Coeur d'Alene Salish for "black
robe" i.e. Jesuit. Nowadays it's the name of a ranch near my hometown,
the site of an annual nude "Bare Buns" fun run!
Best,
Dave
