Lhush chxi pulakli, shiks,

Chxi alta na tl'ap ukuk khapa _Kamloops Wawa_, #108, p. 54 ("Celebration
at Chilliwack"):

Kanawi skwa tilikom mamuk drit
tlus klaska haws: Klaska drit tlus
klaska haws[,] pi kanawi tkop kopa klahani[.]
Chi klaska kopit mamuk pint klaska haws.

(Khapa BastEn:)
All the squaw folk really
fixed up their houses: They were really nice,
their houses were, and all bright on the outsides.
They had just finished painting their houses.

YEkwa, na tEmtEm /skwa/ dret khakwa "shawash lhuchmEn"! Ukuk chaku khapa
BastEn Wawa, wekna?

(I just found this in _Kamloops Wawa_, and you won't believe it..."Squaw"
being used in Chinook Jargon by one of its most fluent speakers. A loan
from English, no?)

Dret Xluwima pus na tl'ap ukuk chxi alta!
Dave
