A couple of suggestions about pre-CJ "Nootka Jargon"

Briefly:  the words in Sproat,

ka^a^, "'hand it to me', 'let me look at it'"
klah-oh-appi, "something instead of that (a word used in bartering)"
mah, "equivalent to 'take it', when you wish to hand a person anything"
klyemmi, "equivalent to 'give more' (often used in sale or barter)"

are examples of items I'd not be surprised to determine as having been
present in the so-called "Nootka Jargon".

Yes, I am engaging in sheer speculation.  And yes, I should track down
that Sturtevant article that Sally Thomason mentioned on this subject.

But at any rate notice:  Jewitt has

kah-ah-pah-chilt, "give me something" and
kah-ah-coh, "bring it"

And Mozin~o has

ca-a-tli, "to receive"

...for example.

[While I'm talking about this subject, may I mention, probably for Henry
Kammler's benefit, that Mozin~o has amiti-amita, "to learn".  Is this
perhaps cognate with CJ kEmtEks?]
