Alan, Thanks for this apparent confirmation of the Basque Pidgin origin of 'orignal'... And the Basque Pidgin origin for Iroquois seems very tempting too. As 'h' aren't pronounced in most Basque dialects and the R/L confusion was quite common in the New World, why not 'Hilokoa(k)'... Regards, Yann.
