Thought this one was worth mentioning as well.  An absolutely beautiful
coffee-table book documenting the countless stone cairns of the Canadian
Inuit, showing what a sophisticated symbolic system they are for those who
know how to read the landscape.  Sort of opens your eyes to what your own
(Pacific Northwest) environment may be trying to tell you, if you watch and
learn.  U. of Washington Press, Seattle, 2000.

On an utterly unrelated note, we picked up a couple of nice hitchhikers in
southeast BC on Sunday, who're launching a Nelson-to-Haida-Gwaii bus tour
company named "Chum Run Journeys".
