My husband and I volunteer at The Museum of Arts and Culture in Spokane. We
recently finished up a moccasin project and are now working with the lithics
collection. Handling these stone artifacts is such a privilege. We are
trying to be more informed about their manufacture and use. One of the
books we have read is Emory Strong's STONE AGE ON THE COLUMBIA RIVER (1959).
Having worked on digs and read widely makes me mention this title with a
bit of trepidation, yet the author's descriptions of the vast proliferation
of lithics in the Columbia River drainage system is worthwhile reading. I
purchased a used copy from the internet and discovered it had been
autographed by the author:

"To Gregory -
"Kopa mitlite hiyu sikhs mamook kloshe."
                                 Emory Strong"

(Are there other recommendations for books on lithics?)
