Application: The application procedure for both lectureship and
professorship takes place in two stages.

STAGE 1. 'QUALIFICATION'

Applicants are required to go through a preliminary process of national
selection ('qualification'). In order to obtain 'qualification', candidates
should first apply online on the website of the Ministry of Education and
Research ('Ministère de l'Education Nationale, Enseignement Supérieur et
Recherche') before 16th October 2007.

They will then receive the names and addresses of two referees, to whom the
full application is to be submitted. Candidates whose application has been
successful will be officially notified in February 2008. 'Qualified'
candidates for teaching/research positions in French universities will then
be eligible to apply for any of the positions that will be advertised in
2008 and the next three years.

STAGE 2. 'RECRUTEMENT' (APPLICATIONS FOR SPECIFIC POSITIONS IN FRENCH
UNIVERSITIES)

Specific positions will be advertised on the Ministry's website in February
2008. The closing date for applications is generally in late March/early
April. Short-listed candidates will be called for interview in early May,
and immediately informed of the University's decision.

All the necessary information concerning qualification and application
procedures can be found on the Ministry's website:

Try to use the linguistic platform NooJ (cf. www.nooj4nlp.net).

I'm working with NooJ to identify and tag named entitties by means of
local grammars (finite state transducers) in French, English and Arabic.

high-performing named entity tagger, but can't
find any that work well enough for our purposes or quickly enough (we are
batch processing lots and lots of data per day). Can someone recommend
one to us? The data we are processing is news data. We have tried
Lingpipe, GATE and OpenNLP and all have speed issues.

Thanks!

Dear Corpora members, could you send me the reading rule of Wolof, an
African language? How are the double consonsnts read? E.g. dd, pp, kk, nn,
ll, etc. Are these long consonants? How are the double vowels read? E.g. aa,
oo, ee, ii? Are they just long vowels? How e" is read? Is X equal to H? Is C
= ts? Is j like English j? Is W sonorant? Ci=tsi? Looking forward to hearing
to my correct address, which is yutamb_AT_mail.ru Yours sincerely Yuri

I am looking to do unsupervised named entities (protein,gene,cell-type)
tagging in the biomedical domain. Can someone suggest me the tool or
relative material to have a look.
Thanks.

Dear Naveed Afzal,

you can find a list of NLP tools for the biomedical domain
at the BioCreative II page, including named entity tagging tools.

http://biocreative.sourceforge.net/bionlp_tools_links.html

Some of them are only available online, others you can also
download and use locally (Abner, Abgene).

Best regards,

Martin Krallinger
