[Corpora-List] ANNOUNCEMENT: Webanno 1.0.0 released

Hi All,

We are pleased to announce the release of WebAnno 1.0.0

WebAnno is a general purpose distributed and web-based annotation tool for
a wide range of linguistic annotations.
WebAnno offers annotation project management, freely configurable tagsets
and the management of users in different roles.
WebAnno uses technology from the brat rapid annotation tool for visualizing
annotations in a web browser.
It supports annotation and visualization of arbitrarily large documents,
pluggable import/export filters,
the curation of annotations across various users, correcting automatically
annotated documents,
quality and monitoring, and farming out annotations to a crowdsourcing
platform.
Currently, WebAnno allows POS, Named Entity, Lemma, Dependency Parsing and
co-reference resolution annotations.
The architecture design allows to add additional modes of visualization and
editing, when new kinds of annotations are to be supported.

Phase two of WebAnno is in progress with the following main requirements
*    Free/unrestricted annotation layers
*    Automatic annotation using active learning technique
*    File type validation while importing
*    Multiple file format import/export
*    Replace the annotation dialog with menu structure
*     And Many more

WebAnno is already open-source and hosted in Google code (

To try WebAnno with out application server and database configuration, try
the standalone version (Java is required) from here (
