As professor Pritsak has pointed out the connections
between East Germanic (in this case Gothic-Erulic)
and the Scandinavians in the east is compelling. The
remigration of part of the Eruli people has caused
some observers to see a spreading of the Eruli
from their Scandinavian settlement area (Vaerend-
Blekinge) all over Scandinavia.
Pritsak relates for instance the organization of the Odin
Cult, until the 6th Century according to these researchers
unknown in Scandinavia. The Eruli established metal
industries in Scandinavia, initiated a land reform,
instituted earls and what is perhaps most important
transmitted the Gothic sagas to the north. There is also
compelling reason to believe that the 'Battle of the Goths
and the Huns' was created on the basis of Gautish material
that was most likely provided by the Eruli.
