Dear all,

We are pleased to share the Call for Papers for a special issue of ContactZone, titled "Who is Afraid of A.I.: Artificial Intelligence in Science Fiction Literature and Films".

The special issue invites contributions examining representations of artificial intelligence in science fiction literature and cinema. Interdisciplinary approaches drawing on gender studies, posthumanism, media studies, cultural studies, and philosophy are particularly welcome.

Possible areas of inquiry include machine intelligence and becoming human, AI consciousness and responsibility, human identity, ethical and social questions, gender, posthumanism, sentient machines, and artificial agency.

Key dates:
- Abstracts (300 words) and bio-note (100 words) due: 20 July 2026
- Notification of acceptance: 30 July 2026
- Full papers due: 15 October 2026
- Publication: December 2026

Contributions may be submitted in English or Italian. Abstracts and bio-notes should be sent to aisff.starfiction at gmail.com<mailto:aisff.starfiction at gmail.com>
