Assistant Professor of Spanish Linguistics, Second Language Acquisition
Applications are invited for a tenure-track position at the Assistant
Professor level to commence January 1, 2007, subject to final budgetary
approval.
Duties include teaching Spanish language at the undergraduate level,
developing graduate courses on language acquisition theory and practice,
and participating in the ongoing curriculum review of undergraduate
courses in Romance languages. The successful candidate will also be
involved in the supervision and training of teaching assistants.
A completed PhD (or solid indication of imminent completion) in Spanish
Linguistics (Language Pedagogy or Second-Language Acquisition) is
required. Candidates must have native or near-native fluency in Spanish,
preferably with a good command of French and/or Italian, and will
demonstrate excellence or clear promise of excellence in research and
teaching. They will have a thorough understanding of computer-assisted
language learning. We seek outstanding candidates who will complement
existing strengths and interests within the Department and foster
collaboration with the Faculty of Education.
