The Xth Conference of Ibero-American Ministers of Culture (Valparaiso,
Chile, 26 - 27 July 2007)
The Ministers of Culture of Spain and various Latin American countries met
to establish common goals and agreements on intercultural dialogue; culture
as a
factor of social cohesion and socially inclusive policies; artistic
education; culture and citizenship and Ibero-America's Action Plan for
Culture. They also examined the follow-up of programs and initiatives
adopted at previous summits: Ibermedia and Iberescena Funds, 2008 as the
Ibero-American year for museums, and the creation of the Ibero-American
Institute for Native Languages. In the Valparaiso Declaration, to be
submitted to the coming Ibero-American Summit of the Heads of State, the
Ministers outlined the shared cultural policy principles and priorities
related to the agenda items mentioned above. They also decided to undertake
coordinated actions with a view to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the
access to independence of the Latino-American countries.
