Crackers

In Slovene it appears that a verb like pociti ("to crack") does not allow the transitive causative use, whereas with streti (also "to crack") such a use is totally idiomatic:

1 *Oce je pocil vazo.
2 Oce je strl vazo.

The structure in 1, with oce ("father") as the subject, is acceptable when pociti is used in one of its other senses, i.e. to hit, as in Oce je pocil otroka ("Father hit the child").
