[Lingtyp] QUERY: lexical expressions for 'lie', 'truth', 'deception' etc. in various languages and cultures

Dear Christian, speaking of idiolects -- at different sociolinguistic
layers-- the first Ital. equivalent of "'mentire'', to lie, that comes
to my mind is 'raccontar balle'. At the present moment I have no
dictionaries at my disposal, but I am sure that there other idioms
too. All languages have certainly particular ways of expressing the
notion, according to their specific historical culture.
