I have recommended this text, and bought copies for friends interested in finding out about linguistics. But I'm biased, snce I'm the original compiler of the mterials, many mamy years ago. (Every revision has a new set of editors. And the royalties go to support graduate student activities. Otherwise, the volume makes money for the OSU Press, so it also supports scholarly publication. I'm very proud of these arrangements.)
