JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
The Research Center for Higher Education at Tohoku University is
pleased to announce that it has the following two staff positions
available.
Position: Computer Assisted Language Learning Instructor at the
University's Research Center for Higher Education
Employment Status: Lecturer (Koushi), Three Year Contract
Position Functions:
(1) Giving guidance to individual students using CALL systems in
preparation for English Examinations designated by the
University's English program.
(2) Advising other English Teaching Faculty concerning the strengths
and weaknesses of students using the University's CALL facilities and
preparing teaching materials in accordance with students' needs.
(3) Teaching responsibilities as part of the inter-faculty English
program, concentrating on Practical English Skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in Secondary Foreign Language
related fields or in an unrelated field with a recognized
qualification in Teaching English as a Second or Foreign
Language.
Experience: Classroom or related experience
Skills: Native or near-native competency in English.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with CALL systems will enhance
employment possibility.
Japanese language ability, while not required, will be considered.
Working Conditions: This position works in a classroom or office
setting primarily with freshmen and sophomores. Instructors will be
expected to be on campus for 40hrs a week during semester. Academic
research will be encouraged.

Salary: The University's pay scale for lecturers will be applied.
