About This Opportunity

We are excited to offer a Lecturer position in Applied Linguistics
(ALx) / English as an International Language (EIL) at a prestigious
top 50 university. This role presents a unique opportunity to further
develop an established undergraduate major in EIL while also
contributing to the teaching and curriculum development of our
postgraduate MA in Applied Linguistics.
In addition to engaging in these rewarding teaching responsibilities,
you will have the chance to enhance your academic profile through the
scholarship of teaching and learning, research, and active service and
engagement within the academic community. If you are passionate about
advancing the field of applied linguistics and eager to grow your

Key responsibilities will include:
Teaching: Develop and deliver courses, engage in curriculum design,
coordinate courses, assess students, provide academic counselling, and
adhere to university teaching rules.
Scholarship of Teaching and Learning / Research: Progress an exciting
research or scholarship of teaching and learning program to achieve
national and international recognition and impact in EIL and related
disciplines through appropriate outputs
Supervision and Researcher Development: Effectively engage in
supervision duties which may include supervising Coursework Masters,
Honours, Higher Degree by Research and vacation scholars. Demonstrate
active engagement in the responsible conduct of research, where
applicable.
Citizenship and Service: Develop partnerships, demonstrate leadership
through mentoring, engage in internal service roles and committees,
perform administrative functions, provide support to colleagues, and
uphold university values.
This is a teaching focused position.


About You

- Evidence of high-quality university teaching in EIL or applied
linguistics across a variety of settings, including small and large
groups with course coordination responsibilities.
- An emerging profile of teaching impact in EIL or applied
linguistics.
- An emerging research / scholarship of teaching and learning profile
in EIL or applied linguistics with high-quality outputs in the
discipline.
- Participation in projects that improve curriculum, pedagogy, or
assessment practices of others, with funded projects being
particularly desirable.
- Participation in curriculum development at the program and/or course
level in EIL or applied linguistics.
- Well-developed communication, interpersonal and consultative skills,
and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in teaching
and learning.
- A profile of professional expertise that complements or supplements
the expertise that currently exists within the School and the broader
University.
- It is desirable to have evidence of involvement in the supervision
or mentorship of honours and Research Higher Degree students in
relevant areas of discipline research.
