Meeting Description:

Following the great success of last year's LinPin Meetup, we are
thrilled to announce that this year's LinPin event will be hosted by
RWTH Aachen and the University of Siegen on 24 September 2024!

In case you are not yet familiar with our event series, LinPin aims to
bring together PhD students in the area of linguistics from all over
NRW to present and discuss their research. Our goal is to create a
safe and welcoming environment where everyone can participate and feel
valued. We are committed to fostering a community of diversity,
equity, and respect, and we encourage everyone to contribute to this
goal.

Feel free to forward this information to colleagues and associates!

2nd Call for Papers:

Deadline Extension - LinPin 2024 - 24 September

We are thrilled to welcome you to this year's LinPin event on 24
September 2024, hosted by RWTH Aachen and the University of Siegen!
Please see below for the updated programme and deadline extension -
feel free to share this information with colleagues and associates.

Venue
This year's LinPin meetup is planned as an all-day in-person event
that will be hosted on the main campus at RWTH Aachen. The building
has even ground access and is in close proximity (~5 minutes) to the
train station Aachen West.

Program:

Just like last year, every participant will be asked to contribute to
the program in some capacity. This year, you will be given the choice
of whether you'd like to present
− a poster either introducing your PhD project, sharing some results
of your project, or practicing/repeating a conference contribution
related to your PhD. You are expected to bring your own poster printed
out in A2 format.
− a method pitch in which you outline a method you used for your own
project that you think might be interesting to others. Method pitches
should include a form of presentation (poster, handout, software
demonstration, etc.) that would enable the audience to incorporate the
method into their own research. Pitches are supposed to be 10 minutes
long with another 10 minutes for questions and answers.

Additionally, we will have some activities to foster networking and
collaboration in our community, with plenty of opportunities as well
to just get to know each other and chat. There will be coffee and some
snacks provided throughout the day, and we will get lunch together at
our mensa.

We have invited two speakers to join us at LinPin2024:
− Dr. Aleksandra Ćwiek (ZAS Berlin) will be sharing her experiences
in managing the day-to-day academic life and reconciling your own
research with other tasks.
− Onur Özsoy (ZAS Berlin) will be talking about different kinds of
publication venues and the process of publishing your research,
including peer-review.

Registration
As every participant will be contributing their expertise to the
program, the notification of acceptance of your abstract will suffice
as your registration. The deadline to submit your abstract for our
event via this page has been extended to 31 July 2024. Abstracts
should be no more than 300 words (including references). Notifications
of acceptance will go out until mid-August. There is no conference fee
associated with our event.

If you have any questions about LinPin 2024, please check out our
event website or send us a message at linpin at ifaar.rwth-aachen.de. We
look forward to welcoming you in Aachen this September!

Best wishes,
Your LinPin 2024 Organizing Team
