Description:

The Department of English at American University of Sharjah (AUS)
seeks applicants for several full-time permanent faculty positions in
composition/writing studies. Candidates should hold a PhD in Rhetoric
and Composition, English for Academic Purposes, TESOL or a closely
related field. We welcome applications from candidates with any
specialization in composition/writing studies, including but not
limited to writing pedagogy, technology and writing, academic writing,
composition studies or second language writing.

We seek candidates who can contribute in innovative ways to the
department’s academic writing program, which includes a multiple
course progression in Academic Writing and Advanced Research Writing.
Candidates should have a strong record of excellence in teaching and
supporting information literacy, evidence of quality scholarship in
their field and a demonstrated commitment to productive institutional
service.

Required Qualifications:
 - PhD in Rhetoric and Composition or related field
 - Demonstrated experience and excellence in teaching undergraduate
academic writing

Preferred Qualifications:
 - Minimum of three years’ experience teaching composition or academic
writing in North American-style higher education institutions
 - Record of strong research and publication in a relevant field,
commensurate with rank
 - Demonstrated commitment to writing studies pedagogies and
curriculum development
 - International teaching experience

Academic Accreditation of the Ministry of Education’s Higher Education
Affairs Division in the United Arab Emirates. AUS has been accredited
in the United States of America by the Middle States Commission on
Higher Education (1007 North Orange Street, 4th Floor, MB #166,
Wilmington, DE 19801 USA) since June 2004.
