Linguistic Field(s): Morphology
Submission Deadline: 31-Oct-2025
As the next event in the (by now) long series of Morphology Meetings
in Central Europe, the 22nd International Morphology Meeting will be
held in Budapest, Hungary, from May 28th through 31st, 2026, organized
by the HUN-REN Hungarian Research Centre for Linguistics (formerly
known as the Research Institute for Linguistics of the Hungarian
Academy of Sciences). The meeting will consist of a main session, a
poster session, and two to four workshops, in keeping with the
traditions.
We invite papers on subjects including, but not limited to, the main
topic of the conference:
Atypical Morphology:
The leitmotif of the conference is going beyond the boundaries. This
may include but is not limited to such diverse topics as
theory-challenging morphological processes; constraint-violating and
rule-bending word formation and inflection; marginal word formation
processes; the morphological characteristics of dominantly isolating
languages; non-agglutinative features in agglutinative languages; and
many more. Besides the leitmotif, we also welcome papers on any other
phenomena related to morphology.
Workshops:
We envisage there be two to four accompanying workshops adjoined to
the main session of the conference, for which we are expecting
proposals from prospective conveners. Thematic proposals for these
workshops are welcome by August 18, 2025.
Abstracts:
2-page abstracts for 20-minute presentations (plus 10 minutes for
discussion) or a poster should be submitted via the meeting’s online
services. The submission URL will be announced in subsequent call
circulars, as well as on the conference website. Submission is limited
to one individual and one joint authorship abstract (or two joint
authorship ones) per person. For more information on submissions check
the official website:
