The first conference of API Education Forum, a new international
association with approximately 100 members formally founded in
February 2025 after a network meeting in June 2024. API Forum aims to
provide an international, collaborative space – physically and
virtually – for researchers, policy-makers and educators in different
contexts to discuss aspects of action-oriented, plurilingual and
intercultural education, reflect on the challenges and opportunities
that they present at the classroom, institutional and policy-making
levels, and share practical examples of implementation and other
resources. In the process the Forum draws attention to relevant
academic research, as well as development projects.
The conference takes place at La Sapienza University of Rome on 19-20
June 2025. The Call for Papers (which in this first conference was for
members only) is closed. Presentations focus on action-orientation in
language teaching, and aspects of plurilingual education, including
mediation and plurilingual pedagogies. Full details of the programme
and the link to register (40 EUR for active non-members; free to PhD
students/candidates) are on the conference website.
