Here is some important information about the 54th New Ways of
Analyzing Variation conference (NWAV 54), which will be held at the
Université de Montréal from October 22 to 24, 2026.
1.      Conference website: https://nwav54.org/
2.      The preliminary conference program is attached to this email.
The schedules for the special sessions still need to be added, as do
two special activities on public outreach in linguistics that will be
offered at lunchtime on Thursday and Saturday.
3.      Conference registration is now open, and the early
registration period will end on September 22. It will still be
possible to register after that date, but the registration fees will
be higher.
4.      Our team has reserved room blocks at several hotels and
hostels in Montreal. If you need to book accommodation, I encourage
you to do so as soon as possible. Demand for hotel rooms in Montreal
is very high for these dates, and in several cases the deadlines for
accessing the rooms reserved for our group are approaching (in many
cases, September 21 or 22). You will find the list of hotels and

Voici quelques informations importantes concernant le colloque New
Ways of Analyzing Variation (NWAV) 54, qui se tiendra à l’Université
de Montréal du 22 au 24 octobre 2026.

2.      Le programme préliminaire du colloque est joint à ce courriel.
Il reste à ajouter les programmes des sessions spéciales à préciser,
de même que deux activités spéciales offertes les jeudi et samedi midi
concernant la vulgarisation en linguistique.
3.      Les inscriptions pour le colloque sont ouvertes et la période
d’inscription à taux préférentiel se terminera le 22 septembre.  Il
sera toujours possible de vous inscrire après cette date, mais les
frais seront plus élevés.
4.      Notre équipe a réservé des blocs de chambres dans plusieurs
hôtels et auberges de Montréal.  Si vous avez besoin de réserver une
chambre, je vous invite à le faire le plus rapidement possible, car la
demande pour les chambres d’hôtel est très grande à Montréal pour ces
dates et que, dans plusieurs cas, les dates auxquelles nous avons un
accès privilégié à ces chambres tire à sa fin (dans plusieurs cas, les
