Translating and the Computer 27 - Conference
(24-25 November  2005, London)
Supported by: British Computer Society Natural Language Translation
Specialist Group, European Association for Machine Translation,
International Association for Machine Translation, the Institute of
Translation and Interpreting and the Institute of Linguists.

This conference focuses on the user aspects of translation
software. The conference series attracts a wide audience which
includes translators, business managers, researchers and language
experts.
Once again, this year the conference will address the latest
developments in translation (and translation-related) software. It
will address the needs of the following conference attendees:

- industry
- public administration
- agencies
- freelancers
- development

This call for papers invites abstracts of papers to be presented at
the conference. The papers (and the presentations) should focus on the
user aspects of translation or translation-related software rather
than on theoretical issues. Presentations accompanied by
demonstrations are especially welcome.

TOPICS
The range of topics includes (but is not limited to):
- use of MT systems
- machine-aided translation and translation aids
- controlled languages and their use in MT
- speech translation
- terminology
- localisation
- multilingual document management/workflow
- case studies of technology-based solutions
- the Internet and translation aids/services
- XML based standards
- Application of XML tools
- Project Management
- Non-business, non-profit organisations approach to translation
  problems i.e. how do they
- the value of "free" versus "charging" services/sites on the Internet

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Authors are required to submit an abstract of a MINIMUM of 500 words
of the paper they would like to present, together with an outline of
the structure of the paper and short BIOGRAPHY.
Abstracts should be sent by POST or EMAIL by 1st July 2005 to: Nicole

The abstracts will be considered by the Programme Chairs, namely:
Chris Pyne and Daniel Grasmick, SAP; Professor Ruslan Mitkov,
University of Wolverhampton and Olaf-Michael Stefanov, United Nations
Office at Vienna.  The authors of abstracts will be notified of
acceptance or rejection of their submissions by 1 August 2005. The
full length versions of the accepted papers (authors will be provided
with detailed camera-ready copy guidelines) will be included in the
conference proceedings and must be submitted by 10th October
2005. Speakers' presentations must be submitted by 10th November 2005.

In brief, the deadlines are:
- 1 July 2005 - deadline for abstracts
- 1 August 2005 - all authors will be notified of decisions
- 10 October 2005- full length versions of the accepted papers to Aslib
- 10 November 2005 - speakers' presentations to be submitted
