Dear Ron, dear Lowlanders,
in Emsland Low Saxon the word for 'old fashioned' is 'ollerweltsk'. In a
150
year old poem I found the word as 'ollerwetsk' (without the l).
I think 'ollerwetsk' (=according to the old rules) has later been
re-interpreted as 'ollerweltsk" (=of the old world). Nowadays there is no
word 'wet' for 'law', 'rule'. The old form was possibly used as long as
people knew the word 'wet'.
Greetings
Zintus Sievering
