Yes, you're exactly right!

I think I have a habit of translating by forming an image
in my head of what was said in the source language and then
describing it in the target language - this helps me to make
sure the translation is idiomatic. Of course there is no
difference between the two images here (you can't really
throw something over a house without throwing it over the
roof), hence the omission.

I did wonder what the didactic purpose of the sentence was,
considering how unlikely the activity described is?

I understood it as meaning that this sentence contains words and
pronunciation that are considered "typically" Zeelandic, as seen from
the point of view of a Standard Dutch speaker, e.g., Z _huus_ ([hy:s]?)
= D _kinderen_ (['kInd at r@(n)]) 'children', 'kids', Z _puuten_
(['py:t@(n)]?) = D _kikkers_ (['kIk at rs]) 'frogs', Z _dulve_ (['dYlv"@]?)
= D _sloot_ ([slo:t] ~ [sloUt]) '(drainage) ditch', _kluuten_
(['kly:t@(n)]?) = _kluiten modder_ ([,kl^Yt@'mOd at r]) 'lumps of mud', and
then all the sound "changes" ...  But I may be making this up and had
better let Margot explain.

By the way, Margot's last name is van Baalen.  (Don't forget to give
your first and last names in your postings, folks, even if they don't
appear together in the same place.)
