Hi, Lowlanders, Ron,

some days ago one of You (sorry, cannot find him) wrote about the
substitution of engl. "th" into "f", in Scots.

First it seemed strange to me, but then I found out, that we have a
similar thing in our dialect of Low Saxon. For example: L.S. "glieden
[gli:den]", familiar with Engl. "to glide", is conjugated to L.S. "he
glifft", Engl. "he is gliding", L.S. "he gliff [uut]", Engl.(exacter
meaning) "he slipped [perhaps on the skin of a banana]".

Dat is je gediegen, Fiete, dat mit "he gliff (uut)"!  Dat is 'n
snaakschen Dialekt un is mi bitherto noch nie nich in de Mööt kamen.  Ik
kenn dat man bloots so:

ik glie(d') - glee(d') - heff/bün gleden
du glittst - glee(d)st - hest/büst gleden
he glitt - glee(d') - hett/is gleden
se glitt - glee(d') - hett/is gleden
it/dat glitt - glee(d') - hett/is gleden
wi gliedt~glieden - gle(d)en - hebbt/sünd gleden
ji gliedt~glieden - gle(d)en - hebbt/sünd gleden
se gliedt~glieden - gle(d)en - hebbt/sünd gleden
