Oh, come on. Artistic licence and parody aside, that's just silly.

An off-list query prompted me to try googling for a recipe
for laver bread.

Turns out that it's very easy to make:

I think in the area where I lived, people didn't "Roll in
additional oatmeal to coat", as the recipe says, because
the stuff was definitely dark greenish-brown, not golden
brown as described here.
