Hey, congratulations! Your birthday is the 24th? Same as my youngest
daughter's, then. She's turning 14 today. Six more years of living with

Thanks, Gabriele. Yes, I'm having a "round" birthday today ...

Jonny wrote the Low Saxon equivalent of "no pig gets that old."  I guess
that's correct, except that my Chinese zodiac sign is the pig ...

I'm enjoying a day off (though waiting for the bathroom floor guy) before
tonight's "do," am sitting underneath the jacaranda vine next to a brugmansia
tree with its dangling trumpet flowers on the patio here in Santa Cruz.  The
usual Northern California coast's morning mist has finally lifted, sunshine
is rapidly warming the air, and the sea lions can be heard tuning up for
their evening concert at the nearby pier.

And happy birthday to your daughter!
